The Way of The
Shaman:
The Shamanic Journey, Power, and Healing

This is the basic workshop of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies and is the prerequisite for all Foundation workshops and training courses.
During this experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal and near-universal basic methods of the shaman to enter non-ordinary reality for problem solving, well-being, and healing.
Particular emphasis is put on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream.
Participants are initiated into shamanic journeying, aided by drumming and movement techniques for experiencing the shamanic state of consciousness and for awakening dormant spiritual abilities and connections with Nature.
Practice includes comparisons by participants of their discoveries in shamanic journeys as well as work on personal problem solving. They are also provided with methods for journeying to discover and study with their own individual spiritual teachers in non-ordinary reality, a classic step in shamanic practice.
Participants learn how the journey is utilized to restore spiritual power and health, and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others, and the Planet.

JOIN us for this joyous occasion of giving life to the voice of Great Spirit through a drum of your own making followed by An Introduction to Shamanism and Drumming.
As you know, when you give birth to something, whether it is a person, an idea, or an object, the intention with which you begin the process gives it a life and a personality all its own. This can be the beginning of a special relationship that supports your life and your spiritual practice to whatever extent you wish to make it so.
During this workshop you will:
- meet the special drum skin that is waiting to partner you
- birth (assemble) the drum and beater
- learn about decoration and care for your drum.(Because the drying process for the drum is 4 to 5 days, or as many as up to 10 days if the weather is wet or humid, drum decoration will be on your own or at a following workshop.)
- celebrate the birth of your new drum
- participate in a Shamanic drum and journey session.
NOTE: Limited to 10 participants
Materials are provided. Each person will have a 15” hand cut Elk skin drumhead, a willow frame, sinew and materials for a beater. Bring snacks or a brown bag lunch.

Anne made her first drum following an advanced training program in Oregon in 1996. Since then she has held workshops for the making and decorating of drums for spiritual use in her own practice and for others. Following an Earth Wisdom tradition she holds workshops in drum making and decorating, beading, mask making, and Mandala drawing (sacred circles) with spiritual intent.
Anne is a Shamanic Practitioner who works with individuals and groups, and leads several Shamanic Drum circles. She also works as an art and therapeutic counselor and facilitates discussion groups for seniors in recovery from substance abuse.
In addition, Anne is a Keynote Speaker on the topics of Shamanism, Transitions of Aging, and Art and Healing Native.
Anne is enrolled in the New Jersey Center for Modern Psychoanalysis.
Weather Shamanism: A Spiritual Path of Personal Growth and Global Healing (Level 1)

The weather is one of the most influential forces in our world. It permeates every facet of our lives, as well as shaping the course of history. As shamanic practitioners our role is to understand and work with all the powers of nature, including the weather.
This workshop is an exploration to learn more about these awesome powers. It is an opportunity to initiate harmonious relationships - partnerships - with the Spirits of Weather.
Weather shamanism is not about controlling the weather. It is about Power, but not "power-over". Shamans are healers, and our goal in this workshop is to heal our relationship with weather. Through journeying and ceremony, we work with the Spirits of Weather directly to find out what they can teach us, what they want from us, and how we can all work together to help the world return to a path of balance and well-being.
Prerequisite: Good shamanic journeying skills and a strong connection with a power animal or spiritual teacher.
Level 1 is the prerequisite for all advanced Weather Shamanism workshops and programs
